Energy complaints in Ireland: CRU's 2025 decisions

Electric Ireland had 235 complex complaints closed by CRU decision in 2025, with 98 upheld. It also had the highest published upheld-complaint rate among the seven suppliers in the report's adjusted comparison: 0.74 per 10,000 customers.

These are regulatory decision outcomes during 2025, not all new complaints received that year or every complaint made directly to an energy company.

How to read the rates and counts

Rates and counts answer different questions. Pinergy's published rate is 0.52 per 10,000 customers, based on 2 upheld complaints in the decision table; Electric Ireland's count is 98. Small underlying counts matter when reading the rate comparison. It is not a general service verdict.

These are the regulator's published customer-adjusted rates, not complaint-success percentages or probabilities. The combined electricity and gas customer population is not an inferred count of unique people.

What these figures do not show

The decision-count tables exclude government electricity-credit cases. The adjusted-rate chart also excludes networks and suppliers with less than 1% market share. Water Power and Go Power appear in the decision table but do not have a rate in that chart. Yuno Ltd combines PrepayPower and Yuno Energy.

Network companies are shown separately because their role differs from supplying your energy. ESB Networks and Electric Ireland are not combined, and supplier rates are not assigned to networks.

These figures describe CRU's published decision population. They cannot predict the result of an individual complaint or show every complaint made to an energy company.
