Small Claims Court Ireland: what fits before you file

A plain-English guide to Irish small claims eligibility, exclusions, and pre-court complaint steps.

Check your dispute first

Answer a few questions to see your options before writing your complaint.

Check your options

Irish small claims is designed for certain lower-value disputes where the amount is EUR2,000 or less and both sides live or are based in Ireland.

The official route belongs with Courts.ie. TBD helps with pre-court preparation only: checking the shape of the dispute, drafting a complaint letter under your name, and organising evidence.

Common fits include faulty goods, services not carried out as agreed, minor property damage, and limited key-money or deposit scenarios.

Before you write

  • Confirm both parties are in Ireland
